A former Mayor of Oldham is calling for urgent improvements to be made to parking…

Our Campaign Takes Next Step on Parking Issue
As part of our ongoing campaign to address the serious parking issues faced by patients, carers, NHS staff and visitors at Royal Oldham Hospital, we have now taken the next step toward greater transparency and accountability.
Why We Have Contacted the Northern Care Alliance (NCA)
Residents have repeatedly raised concerns about:
- Long delays in finding a parking space
- Missed appointments and distress due to parking shortages
- High parking charges and fines impacting people already in crisis
To shine a light on these issues and educate the wider public, we have written to the NCA Communications Team requesting permission to film and photograph parking areas on hospital grounds.
This responsible approach is designed to work with the Trust to highlight challenges experienced by the public and explore practical solutions.
Request for Parking Data
We have also asked the Trust to share up-to-date information on:
- The number of parking tickets issued at Royal Oldham Hospital in the last 12 months
- The total revenue raised from parking charges and penalty notices in that time
We believe it is important for residents to have access to accurate, current data that reflects the local situation in Oldham.
What This Means for Our Community
This is a significant step forward in our campaign. By requesting official permission and data, we are:
- Ensuring transparency
- Giving residents a clear understanding of the scale of the issue
- Encouraging constructive dialogue with the Trust
- Building evidence for meaningful change
We are committed to working collaboratively and ensuring residents’ voices are heard respectfully and powerfully.
